Automated selection of nuclides and reactions of interest in a depletion simulation. Precision loss estimation for multiple outputs

To accelerate depletion calculations, it is common to only consider a selection of isotopes. Simulating limited number nuclides leads inevitably some bias on the outputs simulation. Most methods used are either implicit or dedicated specific cases. This paper presents new method, based physics consideration and an explicit algorithm, that automatically selects isotopes reactions for calculation. method uses creation simplification nucleus tree gathering linking together all can possibly be created during process. performed by recursively adding from previously in through decay nuclear reaction. After tree, simplified cutting reaction out 3 processes: half-life threshold, cross-section threshold type cut. Using these processes, presented important calculation cost reduction (up 40%) with effect lower than times their stochastic standard deviation.
